The product, in the report: RCA 2600 Audio Video Receiver 17x16x5 RT2600
I was never notified of the recall, that I have just been made aware of through an internet search. According to my two daughter’s testimony, the RCA Audio Receiver smoldered and melted the front of the unit, made a loud pop through the [REDACTED] speakers (which I cannot test if they have been damaged yet). I witnessed scorching of the cabinet shelving bottom it was sitting on and smoke throughout the entire first floor.
My daughters were watching a movie last night, after I retired for the night, and rushed into my bedroom to wake me, screaming that the receiver was on fire. When I came running downstairs, the entire first floor was covered in a light film of smoke and the smell was that of electrical/plastic burning. The smoke irritated our throats for a while, but we are okay. I am so fortunate that they didn’t fall asleep or our entire house could have been engulfed in a fire and possibly deaths occuring.
