The product, in the report: Digital audio docking station for iPod
This report is to report a potentially unsafe product.
The product is a Memorex Mi3020-blk “Digital Audio System for iPod”
It stopped working.
I am a certified electronics technician for the Marine Corps and the FAA. I have worked on electronics for 25 years.
I opened the case of the unit to inspect it and the first thing I found was exposed 120V wiring. The wires from the wall outlet power cord were spliced to the input wires to the power supply transformer. The wires were simply twisted together and then stuffed down into the case. There were stray strands and it appeared that the strands contacted each other and potentially shorted the unit.
I have pictures. I have also contacted the company and thus far I have not heard anything from them.
