The product, in the report: I am reporting a severe fire and electrical hazard involving the Mackie CR3-XBT multimedia studio monitors. I owned two separate brand-new pairs of these speakers purchased from different major retailers (Walmart and Best Buy). Both units suffered identical catastrophic internal power supply failures. The most recent incident resulted in the speaker actively catching fire, melting the housing, and emitting smoke. Fortunately, I was in the room and caught the fire immediately before it could spread to the structure of my home.Upon inspecting the serial numbers (205212600CPMR2381 and 215212600CPMR2648), I discovered that despite being purchased at different times and locations, both defective sets share the exact same internal factory batch number: 212600. This indicates a systemic manufacturing defect in this production run that poses a severe, active fire hazard to consumers.
