The product, in the report: High End Computer Speakers
I am the service manager for a electronics repair shop in Fresno CA I have installed 6 sets of AV-30 and AV-20 speaker sets manufactured by M-Audio. Each one of the sets has failed and been returned to my shop. I got replacements from M-Audio, and the replacements have all failed as well. I opened up the speakers and discovered an overheating condition caused by faulty filter capaciters in the power supply. The Caps and power transformer are so hot after running for hour that the insulation has cracked off, and the plug socket for the transformer has melted. I have attempted to communicate this to the product support department of the manufacture. They only will replace the units, and not offer any dialog regarding a voluntary recall of the product.
I think this is a serious safety issue, and an imediate recall must be ordered ASAP, before a fire or injury occurs.
