The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

The product, in the report: LG Wireless Sound Bar model No. SJ7-C.

We heard a loud pop, then looked over to see flames coming out of the end of our LG wireless sound bar model no. SJ7-C. This sound bar has a right half and a left half, and it was the right half that had failed. The flames self-extinguished as I walked over to the unit, and then I unplugged it and carried it outside. I saw that he end had blown off, and burning debris and copper foil from inside had flown into our TV stand, onto our carpet and the wall behind our TV stand. Our carpet suffered minor burns and the TV stand around the area was coated with soot. There were no injuries other than having to breathe toxic smoke. The date on the product label is October 2017.

The product, in the report: LG Model HBS-920 Silver Wireless Headset and power cord Stereo Headset

Product: LG Wireless Head set and Power re charger

    Model HBS-920 Silver

Approximately on 11 Nov 2018, I re-charged by headset with the LG provided power cord. Later on in the evening there was a distinct smell coming from a location near the head set. As I looked closer I detected a burnt end of the power cord that melted away the mini-USB end of the cord, and it was melting. I immediately unplugged the unit from the power source.

I have contacted LG on four different occasions via their website (the only method of communication I can locate), provided them with a close up picture of the burnt device, asked them if there was a product recall, advise to get a resolution etc, and their customer service section has provided no valuable information. I also provided my telephone contact. Hopefully you can assist me.

The product, in the report: I was using the Lg HBS-730 bluetooth on 3/7/14. I had been wearing this headset around my neck for about 5 hours whil working. I decided to stream my music as I was entering an apartment building. Within moments my music went staticky and I felt a sharp shock in my left ear. I immediately removed the device from my head. My body instantly became weak and I began to vomit. I was rushed to the er where I was admitted my symtems worsened . Later on an MRI was preformed where a brain lesion (2.6 cm) was detected located behind my left ear. I’ve seen several drs who can’t explain how the lesion came about since I have no medical illness( such as multiple selrosis). I met with a neurologist with the Cleveland clinic who agrees that there is a possibility of me being shocked by my bluetooth causing my injuries. She had explained my injuries match one with a traumatic brain injury and having an electric shock could have caused the lesion. The only way to confirm would to have the product test for a defect.
