The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Feb 21, 2012, sent to the company Feb 29, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 14, 2012

The product, in the report: Infinity TSS-1100 sub-woofer (sub1100)

My Infinity TSS-1100 sub-woofer failed. When I opened the case I found a burned area on the back of the amplifier circuit board. From what I have read, this is not an isolated incident and Infinity has revised the design of the the board to prevent this problem. My concern is that this could possibly cause a fire in the unit.

The product, in the report: Home theater system subwoofer, Infinity PS210

Fire in a home theater system powered subwoofer. Fire did not extend to any other object, it went out when power was shut off to speaker. My concern is that if I had not been aware of the problem and shut power off, there was a potential to cause a house fire. I also noticed on the seller’s website other consumers have complained of similar failure of this brand and model of amplified subwoofer.

After smelling electrical smoke, I turned off the power and removed the power amplifier part of the subwoofer to inspect it. On the back of the circuit board there was obvious deep charring, and a foam strip above the charred area appears to have some burning and charring.
