Seen by a doctor or nurse Made Oct 21, 2022, sent to the company Oct 25, 2022, published by CPSC Nov 8, 2022
The product, in the report: Product was purchased through Amazon... Manufacture: YBD Country of Origin: China Date first available: August 23, 2021 HEYSONG wireless LED bluetooth speaker 5000mAh rechargable lithium battery “powerful IPX7 Waterproof Speaker” From their Amazon Product Description: Heyson REVERB wireless portable speaker stereo sound bluetooth 5.0 The speaker arrived in an orange and white box and the speaker itself is black in color and approx 5 inches in length and 3 inches diameter.
My Husband and I purchased a waterproof bluetooth portable speaker, it arrived unmarked and in prime condition-- or so we thought. I opened the package the speaker was in and realized it was dead, so I used the charger it came with to begin charging it. Within two hours of charging the speaker exploded. There were two blasts- one from the device itself and one from the lithium ion battery within it. My husband got it unplugged before the 2nd lithium ion battery exploded. We rushed to get our children outside, then the pets outside, then we began ventilating the house. Thankfully my husband was able to use cardboard to extinguish the flames from burning too much in our house, but he is suffering for that now. My family and I are now suffering chemical fire inhalation, we have bloody mucus, eye/skin irritation, gastrointestinal symptoms, respiratory problems, central nervous system dysfunction, and I worry about the long term health effects this will have on our children-- who were in the vicinity when the device exploded. The air inside our house is still reading “poor” and the voc count has been the highest I have ever seen it for almost 7 days now. After calling poison control not many could help in knowing what to do when exposed to something like this, so now we are attempting to keep up with medical care while trying to figure this all out. The company has been hesitant to work with me and has off-put communications. This has been extremely difficult for my family and I; and we do not want this to happen to anyone else. We will never be the same from this.
