The product, in the report: Denon Audio Video receiver
I had the receiver in question in my workshop for background music and talk radio. I was working in my shop on a small project when I smelled an odd odor, I began looking around and looked up at the shelf where the receiver was and i saw smoke and then flames. I immediately pulled the plug and cut the speaker wires, grabbed the receiver and took it outside in the driveway where it totally eruped and burned. I got my camera to take photos but by the time I got back the flames had gone out leaving a badly burnt unit. I did take photos of the aftermath. To me the oddest part of this scenario is that the unit kept playing until I pulled the plug. it was in flames and still sound was coming from it and all of the front panel indicators were normal! If I had been in another part of my shop or in the Garage portion I would not have even known that this unit was in flames until it was too late. There is obviously a lack of protective devices in this receiver. The fire was contained to the rear of the unit and all of the speaker connections were secure and the volume level was very low for background noise.
