As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Aug 10, 2026, sent to the company Aug 13, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 27, 2026

The product, in the report: Black Anker PowerConf S500 (Model Number - A3305)

We are a commercial kiosk provider operating 117 customer-facing kiosks across the United States. Each kiosk is integrated with an Anker S500 speakerphone as a core hardware component, used daily for real-time communication between end users and customer service agents. Between June and July 2026, four separate Anker S500 units experienced spontaneous failures during normal commercial operation. The first incident occurred in June 2026, followed by three additional incidents in July 2026. All four devices were less than two years old at the time of each incident.

Of the four incidents, two resulted in the device fully igniting and exploding, one in June 2026 and one in July 2026. The remaining two incidents, both occurring in July 2026, resulted in the device emitting a burning smell and leaving black scorch marks on the kiosk housing surrounding the speakerphone unit. In all four incidents, the failures occurred without warning. Photographic and video evidence of each incident is attached to this report.

By chance alone, no end users were present during any of the four incidents. With 117 kiosks actively deployed across multiple states, each in a high-traffic, customer-facing environment, the probability of an end user being present during a future failure is significant. The risk of bodily injury and property damage is immediate and ongoing.

Four spontaneous failures of the same device model within a 60-day period, all under normal commercial operating conditions, establish a clear and consistent pattern of product failure. These incidents have been escalated to Anker, yet to date Anker has not issued any acknowledgment or comment. The absence of any response from Anker is deeply disappointing and concerning, given the documented and increasing risk of bodily injury and property damage to members of the public. We are formally requesting Anker to initiate a product recall for the Anker S500 speakerphone and respond to our multiple attempts at communication with them.

Made Jul 28, 2025, sent to the company Jul 31, 2025, published by CPSC Aug 14, 2025

The product, in the report: Soundcore Sleep A20 wireless sleep earbuds. Compact in-ear [REDACTED] headphones designed specifically for overnight use. Color: white. Comes with charging case and multiple eartip sizes. The earbuds are designed to be ultra-small for comfortable sleeping. The product was used as intended for overnight [REDACTED] audio playback.

Im writing to report a concerning incident involving a pair of Soundcore Sleep A20 wireless earbuds, manufactured by Anker.

Last night (July 28, 2025), I was using the earbuds as intendedfor overnight [REDACTED] audio playbackwhen I was suddenly woken at around 1 a.m. by a burning sensation in my left ear. It took a few moments to realize the left earbud had become extremely hot while in my ear. When I removed it, it was hot enough to nearly burn my hand. Thankfully, I did not suffer visible injuries, but the situation could have easily resulted in burns, hearing damage, or even a fire.

This is a serious safety concern, particularly as the product is marketed specifically for sleep use. I have contacted Anker directly to report the issue, request a refund, and offer to return the earbuds for inspection.

I am submitting this report so your team can investigate and determine whether similar incidents have occurred or if further action is necessary. Im happy to provide any additional information, photos, or the product itself to assist in your investigation.

The product, in the report: Anker Soundcore Bluetooth Speaker, black, approximately 6” x 3” x 3”

We purchased an Anker Bluetooth speaker from Amazon on May 22, 2023 as shown on the attached photo. My husband later received notification of the recall, but when he checked the serial number it was not included. On Thursday April 17, 2025 at 3:45 am, we woke up to a carbon monoxide detector alarm. The speaker was sitting on a utility shelf at the opposite end of the house and had caught on fire. Thankfully the carbon monoxide detector was right next to the speaker as the fire started and spread very quickly. We were very fortunate that the only damage we experienced was the loss of the shelf, the speaker, and the carbon monoxide detector. We also had toxic smoke residue covering the lower floor and staining the wall which we have since cleaned and painted. We don’t have the serial number of the unit but have reported the incident to Anker as well.

Last evening my 1-year old Anker Soundcore Q20 headphones melted while charging with a USB cable and caused damage to the floor with the melting plastic. I was lucky to have caught it in time before it caused a house fire and that I was not wearing them while sleeping at night.

The product, in the report: Anker Soundcore A40 earbuds

I bought Anker A40 Soundcore earbuds in May and June 22 the case was getting warm and then last night the case melted. I looked on Amazon and noticed today that there are other reports of these earbuds burning while charging. If I was not home it would have burnt my house. Please don’t let this happen to anybody else. Please issue an emergency recall on Anker batteries since I see many recalls on this issue from other Anker products.

The product, in the report: Anker Technology Soundcore Life U2 Wireless Headphones - foldable and lightweight - 24 hour playtime - Bluetooth enabled

I purchased a set of Anker Soundcore Life U2 wireless headphones on March 1, 2022 from Walmart. On September 29, 2022, they caught on fire while be charged and melted the Anker provided charging cord into the headphones charging port. The “fire” was an arcing event that caused sparks and a high temperature melt of the plastic. I unplugged them from the charging block afterwards. The charging block is a standard phone charging block NOT provided by Anker as they only sold the headphones with the charging cord. The headphones did not work after this event.
