The product, in the report: Decco toddler monitor. A 6-8” long silicone device. Charges via USB cable and the device itself is bluetooth. It’s activated by a cell phone, and hung on the handle of a door. When the door is opened, an alarm on the cell phone is activated. I don’t have any photographs of what happened, because I didn’t think to take them. I dropped the monitor off at the fire department for safe disposal, so I no longer have it.
My decco toddler monitor caught fire while it was charging. I quickly unplugged it, dropped it to the floor, and then quickly brought it outside, where we discharged a fire extinguisher to put it out. It charred our bedroom floor. No injuries or property damage occurred, but it would have had I not been sitting right next to the device, awake, while it was charging.
