The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: T.V. Stand

In 2009 we purchased a [Redacted] LCD T.V. along with an assembled T.V. stand from Frys Electronics in San Jose, California. The T.V. stand has glass shelves and a wood/metal base frame. The top shelf is attached to the base frame using 4 metal mounts glued to the glass. The back two mounts are attached to the base frame. The front two mounts are attached to a hinge liked rods that attach to the base frame. The other night, rear mounts and the detached from the glass (glue failed). Then the glass shelf (due to the front hinge mounts) toppled the T.V. and stand over and landed on the floor. Most fortunately, our two-year-old child nor anyone else was not in front of the T.V. at the time, otherwise serious injury or death would have occurred. The design of this T.V. is clearly dangerous, for if the glue fails on the rear glass mounts, gravity takes over and the T.V. will topple over (as ours did). Thank You,

The product, in the report: Keira TV stand model ZLN # ZL568-55SU

I purchased a TV stand model Keira 55” Flat panel TV stand (ZL 568-55SU) by Z-line Designs through CSN Stores (now Wayfair) on 3/2/2010. I used the product for a 52” [REDACTED] TV model [REDACTED]. The TV stand was used following the manufactures recommendations. The manufacturer advertises the TV stand to support TVs up to 65” with a maximum weight of 150 lbs. The TV placed on the stand was 52” and weighted 57.1 lbs. The TV was positioned on the TV stand so the weight was evenly distributed. Around May or June, 2015, I encountered that my TV had fallen front forward from the top glass shelf resulting in severe damage to the screen. The damage to the screen was beyond repair, therefore the TV was sold for parts through eBay in June, 2015. The reason for the incident seems to be the support system design for the top glass shelf of the TV stand which may result in a unstable top glass shelf. I have encountered that the same problem has been reported by several other customers who have bought the same product:

This is a potential hazard to other customers and may result in property damage and personal harm, specially if TV viewers (e.g. kids) are sitting in front of the TV. This incident has been reported to the manufacturer as well.
