The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Mar 8, 2018, sent to the company Jun 15, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 29, 2018

The product, in the report: VIVO Universal Adjustable Projector Wall Mount Extendable Length Projection Mounting Holder https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01G7SBGLK/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I purchased a wall mount for a TV projector. The mount extends about 30 inches from the wall and consists of two pieces - a metal tube that actually connects to the wall (“wall mount”) and a metal bracket that bolts onto the projector (“projector mount”). The projector mount connects to the wall mount via a metal rectangle that sits atop the projector mount. This metal piece slides into a bracket on the bottom of the wall mount. Within a second of connecting the projector mount to the wall mount, the rectangular piece failed causing the entire projector to fall. Fortunately I was still holding on to it, so no damage or injury occurred. But, this is a product designed to hole a 15-30 pound object above a person’s head, and could have caused a fatality had it failed after installation.

The metal rectangle is connected to the projector mount via two small bolts. The bolts are barely threaded onto the rectangle - each only goes in to the second thread of the bolt. There is no nut on the other end to secure the bolts, no loctite to secure the threads, and no welds to provide a backup connection.

    This is exceptionally dangerous.
