  1. Hurt, no treatment

Made Jul 27, 2020, sent to the company Aug 6, 2020, published by CPSC Aug 20, 2020

The product, in the report: ID # NS-HMG 1856, Made in China 06-2017, black metal 3 shelf TV stand with a set in glass on the tope shelf. Glass is about 58x20xi/3 inch thick.

In October 2017 I bought a 3 shelf TV stand #NS-HMG 1856 about 56x20 inches, black metal, with a set-in glass top on the top shelf. About two weeks ago I heard a crack in the middle of the night. I got up but could find nothing; but the next day I saw that the glass shelf had splintered, like a windshield that cracks without falling apart. I ran my fingers over the top and cut myself on very tiny, very sharp glass shards. I cleaned up ;the top and the surrounding area with wet paper towels and covered it with a sheet so my cat would not get hurt.

I contacted Best Buy where I had purchased the item to report a dangerous situation. The rep I talked to verified that I had purchased the item, and said the warrantee had run out and the item was no longer being stocked. He said someone might contact me, but two weeks later I have heard nothing. Nor can I find that it was posted in their recall items. I know this is unusual, but since it happened once it could happen again to someone else. Also, I have a very large dangerous piece of broken glass to dispose of in the middle of a pandemic. I am 89 years old and am sheltering in place!
