The product, in the report: Full Suspension Electric Mountain Bike
I purchased a new Yamaha Moro-05 from DHY Motorsports on 11/11/2024. On November 19th I went on my first major ride taking the bike from my residence in [REDACTED], MD to Loch-raven Reservoir, total ride was aproximately 11 miles. In total the bike has about 20 miles of riding. I was following Yamaha Moro Riders [REDACTED] page ([REDACTED]) and happened to notice a few post to check the wiring above the battery connector for pinch points insulation damage by removing the battery. I decided it made sense to inspect the wiring by removing the battery which is user removable with a combination of Allen Wrenches, and T-10 Screws. Upon removal of the battery it was clear that the 36V hot wire off the battery was already damaged exposing the live voltage off the battery. If this shorted out it poses the risk of fire. The fact that my bike only has 20 miles on it with this significant damage is very concerning and warrants a recall for inspection and reseating / redesign of wire placement. I contacted the main Yamaha phone number on 11/20/2024 to report my findings as well as sent photos to both HEYSER CYCLE, and DHY, and Yamaha Motorsports USA [REDACTED] Page via private message.
