The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No one hurt

Made Jul 6, 2026, sent to the company Jul 9, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 23, 2026

The product, in the report: SUPER73-Z Adventure Series SE electric bicycle, Blackout colorway, black frame, 20 inch wheels, purchased new December 2025 as one of two identical bicycles on a single order. Frame is stamped S73-ZX with serial number F55HY0308. Rigid steel or alloy frame with head tube welded construction, front suspension fork, 750W class rear hub motor, removable battery. The failed component is the frame head tube weld, the joint connecting the steering column to the main frame.

On July 4, 2026 at approximately 9 PM, my minor son, age 13, was riding a SUPER73-Z Adventure Series SE electric bicycle at normal speed on a paved bike path when the frame separated completely at the head tube weld, the structural joint connecting the steering column to the frame. He heard a loud crack and the front end of the bike dropped. He was able to stop without injury, but a complete head tube separation causes total loss of steering control while in motion and presented a serious crash and injury hazard. The bicycle was 7 months old with 1551 miles, ridden under normal conditions by its original owner, with no crash or impact preceding the failure. The same evening, we inspected a second, identical bicycle purchased on the same order and found a crack propagating along the head tube weld in the identical location. Both frames share the same serial number prefix, indicating the same production batch. Two frames from a single batch failing at the identical structural weld is consistent with a batch-level manufacturing defect. The second bicycle also previously suffered a front fork lower-leg casting fracture at 66 days old in March 2026, which the manufacturer covered as a warranty defect. Both bicycles have been taken out of service and preserved unaltered, with all fractured components retained. The manufacturer, SUPER73 Inc, has been formally notified and a warranty claim is open, manufacturer ticket number [REDACTED], prior related ticket number [REDACTED]. Photographs of both failures are attached.

(07/20/2026) Since the CPSC transmitted my report to SUPER73, Inc. on July 9, 2026, the manufacturer has twice denied warranty coverage in writing for the head tube weld failures on both bicycles (Serials F55HY0308 and F55HY0016). In doing so, SUPER73: 1. Has not physically inspected either bicycle, despite my repeated standing written offer to make both preserved units available for inspection; 2. Attributes the failures to “stunt riding,” inferred solely from protective tape at the rear of the frames — although both failures occurred at the front head tube weld and every rear weld remains intact — a conclusion that contradicts sworn affidavits the manufacturer itself requested from me; 3. Has recharacterized a prior structural failure on the same order (a fractured front fork casting) — which SUPER73 previously covered and replaced as a warranty defect (its Order [REDACTED]) — as evidence of customer abuse; and 4. Asserts that aftermarket accessories void the warranty outright, without any showing that any accessory caused the weld failures. Both bicycles remain preserved, unaltered, with all fractured components retained, and remain available to the CPSC or the manufacturer for inspection. I am providing this so the record reflects the manufacturer’s full response to this safety incident. My contact information is on file and I authorize continued sharing of this supplement with the manufacturer.

The product, in the report: It is a power switch on a Super 73 model MZFT ebike. The power switches are stuck in a Bluetooth programming malfunction causing these bikes to accelerate from any pressure on the pedal. Super 73 is aware of the issue and has refused to replace the power switches without a purchase receipt. I have provided them video, photos and testimony of the defective power switches. They have since upgraded to a new power switch but refuse to replace these defective power switches which are less than one year old. They acknowledge this issue on their webpage and I have had a previous power switch on a different MZFT e-bike replaced.

My daughter lost control of her ebike because of a defective power control switch on her ebike.

The product, in the report: Paste this exactly into the product description box: 2025 Super73-Z Adventure Series SE electric bicycle, Blackout colorway. Motor-assisted fat tire e-bike with front suspension fork. Purchased December 27, 2025 from super73.com. Serial Number F55HY0016, [REDACTED]. Purchase price $3,604.24. The bike features a [REDACTED] brand front suspension fork with aluminum lower leg castings. Bike is rated for riders up to approximately 300 lbs. Weight of bike approximately 73 lbs.

On March 3, 2026 at approximately 6:30 PM, my minor son was riding a Super73-Z Adventure Series SE electric bicycle (Serial F55HY0016, [REDACTED], purchased 12/27/25) at approximately 10 mph in a flat school parking lot in San Marcos, California. The front fork lower leg casting catastrophically fractured and fully separated from the fork body. The rider lost all steering control and was thrown to the ground. Two witnesses were present. The bike is 66 days old, stock configuration, never serviced or structurally modified. The detached casting piece is in my possession. Super73 has denied the warranty claim citing unrelated modifications. I am filing this report as a structural safety defect on a motor-assisted vehicle involving a minor child.

The product, in the report: Super 73 electric bike

Son was riding his Super 73 E bike and the handlebars slipped. He went flying over the handlebars, breaking his nose and suffering a severe concussion/TBI. The handlebar design is not secure and can slip without warning as the screws loosen. I reported to the manufacturer and never heard anything
