First aid Made May 18, 2026, sent to the company May 21, 2026, published by CPSC Jun 5, 2026
The product, in the report: Ridstar Q20 1500W electric bike
1. My son started having problems in January, when we started replacing inner tubes bi-weekly in the back (motor) tire. I contacted Walmart and received no response. This began the biweekly replacement of the tubes.
At the end of January is when the shifter cable sliced his leg when it flew out while riding. I contacted Walmart again with no response.
In February, the throttle crumbled while riding, so we taped it together and I contacted Walmart again with no response.
The seat screws also started coming loose around this time and he kept tightening them before going out riding. Again, I contacted Walmart with no response.
Also at this point we figured out that it was the spokes that were not attached correctly and his friend had the same bike (his battery exploded, so was unusable) and still had some parts, so he brought the spokes from his to replace and repair and we found out he was missing the little metal screw in pieces that held them in place.
In March, he went out to the garage to ride and saw that his computer was split at the plastic seam. We zip tied it.
Also in March, the headlight started shorting out, so we replaced it with aftermarket for this bike.
In April, I bought new tires because we figured this might help the tube issue because the stock ones were super thin.
Also in April, the chain snapped a link and exploded the pedal ring and smashed his foot.
I had given up contacting Walmart with all the ignored emails. I then reached out to Ridstar via email because of the 1-year manufacturer warranty. They refused and stated I must contact Walmart because the bike was purchased from them. I called and waited on hold for 72 minutes to speak with Walmart, who told me the bike was “sold and shipped by Ridstar” so they wouldn’t do anything. Back and forth between the two for 3 weeks until Walmart said I had to contact Allstate for the protection plan. Ridstar refuses to acknowledge their own warranty.

Emergency room Made May 1, 2026, sent to the company May 6, 2026, published by CPSC May 20, 2026
The product, in the report: Ridstar electric fat tire bicycle 1500W motor 48V battery 20 inch wheels models Q20 and Q20Luxe black color front suspension fork axle mounted front wheel with washers and retention hardware used for normal recreational riding no modifications
A Ridstar electric bicycle was being used under normal riding conditions by my teenage son. During use, the front wheel suddenly detached from the front fork assembly. The axle separated from the fork dropouts, and multiple retention components (washers and hardware) came loose. This caused an immediate loss of control and the bicycle collapsed forward. As a result of the failure, my son was thrown from the bike and sustained a fractured collarbone, which required emergency medical evaluation. The bicycle had not been modified and was being used as intended. Based on the condition of the components after the incident, the failure appears to have occurred at the front fork/axle connection point where the wheel should be secured. I am reporting this because this type of failure creates a serious safety hazard, especially since these bicycles are being used by teenagers. A sudden front wheel detachment during normal operation poses a high risk of injury. A second similar bicycle was also purchased for my other teenage son, which raises additional safety concerns about potential product defects. This failure occurred during normal use without warning and represents a potential defect in the wheel retention system

Emergency room Made Apr 10, 2026, sent to the company Apr 14, 2026, published by CPSC Apr 28, 2026
The product, in the report: Ridstar E-Bike 20” Fat tire 1200W model FP4815ROH36, serial number LTG2025060540138
There is a serious safety issue involving the FP4815ROH36 Ebike, serial number LTG2025060540138, we purchased on September 14, 2025 through Zipway Ebikes listed on Amazon.
On October 12, 2025, while our thirteen-year-old son was riding the bike under normal and appropriate conditions, the bike experienced a failure when the front wheel completely came off the bike. This malfunction caused our son to launch forward into the handlebars and key and subsequently off the bike. As a result, it caused him to suffer from a deep laceration across the right side of his chest, which required a medical evaluation and treatment, including an ambulance ride, emergency room services, x-rays, anesthesiology, and approximately fifty stitches to close the wound. Our current medical expenses total almost $4,000, still pending ambulance bill and scar therapy. The seller on Amazon issued a full refund and recently removed the listing from the site.
We have contacted: Ridstar E-Bikes, per the owner’s manual, via email and through 2 demand letters, for the past 6 months, to seek reimbursement for medical bills and to report the dangers of the bike, with no resolution.

The product, in the report: Ridstar E-bike
My 14 year old son was riding his Ridstar e-bike through a parking lot went over a speed bump and the front wheel completely fell off. He hit his face on the concrete and has substantial injuries. He visited the urgent care, ER and now has to see an oral surgeon. I am very dissatisfied with this company as I am reading so many others that have experienced the exact same thing. When will the company recall the product, does someone have to die for them to address a safety concern in their product.

No one hurt Made Nov 5, 2025, sent to the company Nov 13, 2025, published by CPSC Nov 28, 2025
The product, in the report: Ridstar Electric Bicycle for Adults, 1000W 25MPH,48V 15Ah Electric Dirt Bike,20” Fat Tire Full Suspension Mountain Bike UL2849. Actual color: 20’’-1000W 48V 15AH-25MPH
I purchased a Ridstar electric bicycle through Walmart.com on August 11, 2025. The product was sold by a third-party seller but branded as Ridstar. A few weeks after purchase, while my teenage son was riding the e-bike on a public street at a moderate speed, the front wheel suddenly detached from the frame. This caused the bike to collapse forward, and my son nearly fell onto the pavement. Fortunately, he was able to regain balance and avoid injury, but the incident could have resulted in serious harm. The bike was being used as intendedridden on a paved road under normal conditions. The failure appeared to be due to a mechanical defect or improper assembly related to the front wheel attachment. I have contacted the seller through Walmarts Contact Seller feature but have not received a response. I am reporting this incident because the product poses a significant safety risk to riders, especially children or teens, and I am concerned that others may be at risk of injury.

The product, in the report: RidStar Electir Bike for Adults 1200 W 25 MPH Dirt Bike 48V, 15 AH Removable battery Max 50 miles electric motorcycle 20” Fat Tire Ebike 7-speed & UL2849
On August 24, 2025, my son sustained an electrical injury while attempting to connect a loose electrical connector on his Ridstar electric bike, which was purchased through Amazon. The order for the e-bike was placed on August 20, 2025, and delivered on August 24, 2025.
While investigating why the e-bike would not power on, my son observed that two electrical wires were not fully connected. When he attempted to secure the connection, a significant electrical arc occurred, resulting in electrocution and second-degree burns to multiple fingers on his left hand.
He was immediately transported to a local Emergency Department for evaluation and treatment due to the electrical shock, burn injuries, and associated pain. Following initial medical care, he was discharged home with instructions for follow-up within two days. At the subsequent follow-up appointment, his injuries required escalation of care, and he was referred to a specialized Burn Unit Emergency Department for further treatment and management.
