No incident, no one hurt Made Jul 28, 2026, sent to the company Jul 31, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 14, 2026
The product, in the report: QLife Spark Plus 20” bike, electric bicycle
A QLife Spark Plus electric bicycle had a major failure in the motor assembly, coming apart while riding. This separation rendered the rear brakes completely inoperable as the hub plate attaching the motor/hub to the brake rotor separated. The bike was being ridden by a 14-year-old and could have resulted in injury if they needed to stop suddenly. Additionally, the functionality of the electric motor was completely lost.
The motor’s non-drive side has screws attaching the plate to the hub/motor. These screws backed out and became de-threaded, making the bike very dangerous. The bike is less than two months old, and this was a defect direct from the manufacturer.
Additionally, the bike arrived with various critical frame bolts not torqued properly or at all. This was not something specified in the typical set-up process.

First aid Made Jun 25, 2026, sent to the company Jun 30, 2026, published by CPSC Jul 15, 2026
The product, in the report: Qlife Spark electric bicycle purchased new on May 27, 2026.
I am reporting a safety incident involving a Qlife Spark electric bicycle. The bicycle was being ridden by my son under normal riding conditions.
Less than two weeks after purchase, I noticed abnormal movement in the steering/head tube area and reported my concerns to the manufacturer on June 8, providing photos and a video. The manufacturer did not advise that the bicycle should no longer be ridden.
On June 20, while my son was riding the bicycle, the steering assembly broke apart. Components from the steering/headset assembly fell out and the handlebars came off, causing him to lose control and crash.
Fortunately he fell into a grassy area and his injuries were minor scrapes, but the failure of a critical steering component created a serious risk of severe injury had he been near a roadway or riding faster. The bicycle is no longer usable.
I requested a refund from the manufacturer due to the safety failure. The manufacturer declined the refund request and instead offered replacement parts, which I was later told are currently out of stock. I have preserved the bicycle in the condition it was in after the incident and have photographs, videos, and email correspondence documenting the events.
