The product, in the report: Hiboy P6 Ebike
Hiboy P6 rear wheel drop out failure. On February 10, 2026, I officially reported a recurring rear-wheel detachment issue to Hiboy the manufacturer. Upon further inspection during a manufacturer-approved repair on March 4, I discovered catastrophic structural failure of the aluminum frames rear dropouts. The high-torque steel motor axle “milled” and deformed the softer aluminum mounting slots. This deformation prevents the axle from seating or clamping securely, making the bicycle a total loss and a severe fall hazard. Despite having only 914 miles, the frame is irreparable. Hiboy has acknowledged the failure but refused a full replacement, offering only a 50% discount on a new unit. I am seeking a full claim for the original purchase price as the product is fundamentally defective and unsafe. The initial date of loss and report to the manufacturer February 10 is within the covered period.

I bought the Hiboy BK1 E bike for my 5 year old child. However the handle thickness and the handbrake are adult size and a toddler hand cannot grab the brake. Considering it goes up to 9MPH it is a extrem safety concern wich can include death if the child cant stop the bike on a traffic light/pedestrian walk. There is no way a child at her age unless in the upper 95% hand size can opearte this break. The only way my child was able to brake is using her feets. However an E balane bike should never be approved with proper sized brake. [REDACTED] bike is a good example that makes handle diameter and brake size correctly for kids.

Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 20, 2024, sent to the company Sep 25, 2024, published by CPSC Oct 17, 2024
The product, in the report: Electric Bike, Gray
I purchased a Hiboy EX7 electric bike on Aug 20th. The bike came mostly assembled, after finishing set up I took it for a spin where it worked fine though the brakes were a little loose. Two days later the front AND rear brakes both failed while riding causing an accident. All the sudden I hear a little ping/click/pop sound and I notice that my rear brake lever has almost completely lost resistance, and that my rear brake seems to have little to no stopping power. Luckily I was able to pull over safely using my front brake alone and I spent a while looking at my bike to see if I could figure out what was going wrong.
At first I assumed that the brake cable must have snapped or something, but that doesn’t seem to have been the case because each time I pulled the rear brake lever I could see the cable pulling the little “arm” (not sure what this part is called, but it’s the little lever on the brake itself that the cable connects to) being pulled what seems to be the normal amount.
Looking into the rear caliper and pulling the handle, I could see a small amount of pad movement, and could even see the rotor move a bit so I know that some contact was being made. But just a short distance into pulling the brake I would hear that same ping/click/pop sound and it appears that the brake would just pop/slip back off, my hand would feel almost no resistance on the lever, and the brakes were barely stopping the bike, if at all!
