On May 25, 2023 we were using our 2020 Honda Pioneer 1000-5 to do some yard work. It unexpectedly accelerated, I applied the brake the front wheels locked up trying to stop it but the back wheels continued to push the vehicle. It ultimately went down our hill and hit a tree. When this happened it slammed my head into the roll bar giving me a concussion and two cuts requiring staples and stitches. We are unsure why the vehicle accelerated and would not stop but upon further research it appears this is a known issue with a current recall for 2016-2019 Honda Pioneer 1000-5. Ours is a 2020 falling outside of that recall but was purchased in 2019 so I am concerned that some of the early 2020 models should also be included in that recall.

UPDATED ON 9/28/2023: [I have contacted American Honda again after you alerted me they responded and said I had not contacted them. After giving them the date and time of my previous contact they said they would open an investigation.

They concluded the investigation recently but their investigation only states “Honda had made a determination on machine” they will not tell me what if any issues they found.]
