The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

E-mail address:: [REDACTED] Your Message:: On March 19,2023 our 2023 Polaris Ranger 570 exploded and burned after a 15-20 minute light ride through our pasture. We parked it. Turned it off and within 5 minutes it blew up. No one was injured. We reported to our dealer who contacted Polaris. 2 weeks later they sent an investigator out to look at it. Today, a month later we get the call that the Polaris engineer could not find any defect therefore they will not cover or stand by their warranty. Our Ranger was purchased October 26,2022 and had just rolled over 100 miles. Today we filed an insurance claim which will cost us in the long run but it’s very sad that an AMERICAN company refuses to back their product! They couldn’t even give us a reason.

The product, in the report: Polarais Ranger 570EPS Utility Vehicle

After approximately 20-30 minutes of normal use of my Polaris Ranger 570EPS (mucking horse stalls and pasture, then depositing in collection area) I parked my UTV on our concrete driveway. Ignition off. Went in house for bathroom break and to get a drink. No more than 10 minutes later heard a loud pop sound. My husband was first on scene (within 10 seconds) to discover our UTV engulfed in flame. I was on my way outside when he yelled “call 911 the Polaris is on fire”. The UTV was indiscernible for the inferno by the time I reached it (less than 20 seconds from the “pop”). My husband and I both used water hoses to do our best to contain and put out the fire. [REDACTED] sheriff was first on scene in approximately 20 minutes followed by [REDACTED] Fire and EMS. Fire Department used water hose to extinguish what was remaining of the UTV fire and nearby tree.

Polaris Ranger Crew 570 Year 2013

I drove it for just a few minutes, parked it by the house. I went in the house an within 2 minutes my wife saw smoke outside the window. I went out and the vehicle was significantly on fire in such a short time.

I was totally destroyed along with my truck and close to catching the house on fire.

I have done some research and see Polaris has fire issues.

It make no sense that it caught fire and so significantly within a short time.

The product, in the report: 2016 UTV

    [REDACTED]

2016 Polaris Ranger ETX UTV VIN [REDACTED] purchased April 2016 from Midwest Sport in MO The consumer had no major fire issues with this vehicle before this incident

On November 20th, 2018 after riding only approximately ten minutes, the consumer parked his UTV in the garage under house then after no more than five minutes he looked out and saw that it was on fire. Most of the fire was around the engine and bed with flames mainly at the engine and bed. The garage under the house has very little oxygen which allowed the fire to extinguished itself but unfortunately not before damaging his UTV, his garage and his home. There are no injuries being reported He has contacted the manufacturer, however the manufacturer accepts no responsibility for the incident or the damage. The consumer is reporting this as an extremely severe fire, burn and hazard for living beings and property and he has asked for help from CPSC.

The product, in the report: 2014 Polaris Ranger 800 4X4 (side by side)

The throttle stuck wide open on my 2014 Polaris Ranger when I put it in reverse. The machine is brand new with only 24 hours on it. Up until this incident I have not had any problems with it. I had my foot on the brake as I had just started it. When I placed the Ranger in reverse, it took off at full speed. It was on level ground. I was using it for my work as an inspector at a natural gas pipeline construction site in [REDACTED]. The incident was witnessed by at least 5 other workers. The Ranger ran into a strawing machine which was parked about 10 feet behind me. The bed is caved in and the back right tire blown out (I am taking it to the dealer as I suspect the frame is bent). I was thrown out of the Ranger, injuring my elbow. I am taking it back to the dealer ASAP. This is not a safe machine for myself or my family.

The product, in the report: Polaris Ranger 800

Polaris Ranger/having serious heating issues to the point that caller is afraid someone is going to be burned.

Caller said that the seat area on her and her husband’s off road vehicle is continuously becoming hotter and hotter both on and behind the seat and under the riders seat is where heat builds.

Caller states that she was riding with another driver when the seat and back of the seat became so hot that she couldn’t stand it.

She got off the vehicle and walked back to their starting point.

She had a red mark on her back where the seat had touched her-

Caller is reporting this product as an extreme safety issue because she had her small dog (A Schipperkee who is about 18” tall and weighs approximately 28lbs) in the middle of the bench seat one time for about fifteen minutes but had to stop to attend the small dog because he became very choked up due to the heat.

Caller has noted that if a child was sitting in the middle or on the right side of the seat and wasn’t aware that it shouldn’t be that hot then they could become badly burned.

Caller contacted the manufacture July 5th, 2013 then created case# [REDACTED]
