Team One Powersports at 12899 Garrett Highway in Oakland, Maryland (Phone: 301-334-9494) sells the Oreion Motors Reeper offroad UTV product. Oreion Motors is located at 331 Academy Drive, Corrales, New Mexico 87048 (Phone: 505-916-1206). The Oreion Reeper’s engine is mounted in the middle of the vehicle, directly behind and between the driver and passenger. The engine and transmission stick forward through a large opening in the steel engine firewall between the vehicle occupants and the engine with no fire-proof safety cover over the engine firewall opening. All that separates the vehicle occupants from the engine is a flimsy piece of plastic with a very low melting temperature. If there was ever an engine fire in the vehicle the center console cover would melt almost instantly, a rubber gasoline hose attached to the front of the engine would also likely melt very quickly and the vehicle occupants would suffer severe burns as a melted fuel hose would squirt fuel directly into the driver / passenger compartment. This vehicle should include a steel cover over the engine firewall opening to protect the driver / passengers in the event of a fire. This is a very severe design and manufacturing defect and an easily remedied safety defect. Oreion Motors could easily cover the engine firewall opening with a steel cover but it seems they use plastic to save money. This vehicle is a safety risk to everybody who owns one and everybody who rides in one. The first person who suffers an engine fire in this vehicle design may die or be severely injured by burns as a result of this design and manufacturing defect. The easy, simple remedy to this dangerous safety risk is to add a metal engine firewall cover over the engine firewall opening to protet the driver and occupants of the vehicle in case of an engine fire. This picture shows the opening directly next to where the seats would be installed and illustrates the design defect and safety hazard well: http://img901.imageshack.us/img901/1157/KAohPF.jpg
