First aid Made Mar 2, 2012, sent to the company Mar 12, 2012, published by CPSC Mar 26, 2012
The product, in the report: Cub cadet voluteer 4 x 4 utility vehicle EFI CAMO
This is the second time I am reporting an injury regarding this machine. Please refer to CPSC report number 20111018-78C4F-2147474193. This time I sustained the injury. I contacted the company directly but have not heard back with a follow up. They claim that this is the first time they are hearing such a complaint.
I was exiting the Cub Cadet Volunteer utility vehicle and severly injured my knee of the door closure retaining pin that is mounted on the frame and extends into the passanger area. The door is hinged from the back so the closure is in the front.
The design of the seat has a large bar of the side forcing you to slide forward to exit. Moving forward puts you in direct contact with the door pin and I hit it so hard, I sustained an quarter size gash in my knee and a painful injury to my patela.
I have included pictures for your review.
DESIRED OUTCOME: Recall of the product, redesign of the door closure so that nobody gets hurt.

First aid Made Oct 18, 2011, sent to the company Oct 26, 2011, published by CPSC Nov 9, 2011
The product, in the report: Cub Cadet Volunter 4 x 4 off road vehicle
I contacted Cub Cadet about a problem but never heard back so I am reporting to you. We own an expensive top of the line off road 4x4 called the Volunter that I think has a serious design flaw in the door. The entire door design is a bit odd as the hinge is mounted on the rear of the door allowing it to swing backwards from the front as compared to how a normal car door is hinged from the front and swings forward.
The catch mechanism is mounted on the front part of the frame because of the odd swing and sticks out so far that it can cause an injury to a person’s knee . The design of the seat forces you to move forward when exiting making it very easy to strike your knee into the lock pin. My wife suffered a serious laceration to her knee causing her to faint from the pain. My recommendation is that every vehicle be recalled and a change to how the door is hinged be made. If this was done, the locking pin would be moved to the back of the frame well out of the reach of a person’s le.
