The product, in the report: 5 Color LED Self Balancing Scooter Mini Smart Electric Hoverboard W/ Bluetooth Speaker
I ordered a hoverboard over Thanksgiving and received it approx Jan 15th and have been trying to diagnose the problem since. I thought it was a charging issue. I am located in Bermuda and could not send the product back to the US because of the hold on shipping the product. I finally found someone on island that had experience with troubleshooting them. First he did not want to open the product because it looked like it had been already tampered with (missing screws and a variety of screws used.) Once the retailer was contacted, even though i had been in contact since it would not turn (Jan 16th) on even with the specified charging time, she advised me on Feb 2nd they became aware of that somewhere in the shipping process they the product was being opened. In any event my technician opened the product and called to say that I would not be pleased with the inside of the machine. . He said it is a huge fire risk as is and not willing to take that risk. The wires connected to both ends of the battery and motherboard are damaged (hot glue and kinks). He said the hot glue will melt with every charge and cause damage. There is a chip on the board that he has never seen on any board and it is not connected to anything. It was wrapped around other wires. He said of all the various boards he has worked on, none have had any hot glue used or been so complicated on wiring (unconnected or damaged). He said he has never seen a battery so huge – all the boards he has serviced have had flat batteries. He noted the missing screws and the incorrect screws used – varying types and not new screws as you can see the wear on the heads of them. He was able to, in my presence, to remove the screws with ease and he said that should not happen with electronics. He also said the foot pads are not secure and they either are incorrect for the board or are on the wrong side. The loose wires were also not connected to anything but hot glued down. He said even if he fixed the charging mechanism, with all the hot glue used on almost every internal part, it would cause a fire and the heat would melt it and it would get into the motherboard etc and short out. I just wanted to share the retailer/manufacturer and guts of the product.
