The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: ZIPP Zedtech 404 front wheel hub

I own a a ZIPP/Sram Zedtech 404 front wheel. On or about April 16th, while riding my bike before a race, I heard a loud TWANG and I suddenly fell to the ground hurting my left knee. After getting up and inspecting by bike, I notice that the front rim was out of whack. I thought I had just blown a spoke. Upon further inspection, I found that the hub flange had blown apart and the force was strong enough to crack the hub almost across to the other side. I have discussed this with ZIPP and shown them the pictures of the damaged hub and they say the hub is not under recall. Pictures of similar damage to hubs currently under recall show the same type of flange explosion.

I suggest that perhaps the extent of the hub failure issue extends beyond what Sram states it is and includes many other similar designed hubs.

I have the wheel and pictures for inspection.
