The product, in the report: The WeeRide - Co-Pilot tag-along bike. Product details: - Model: WeeRide Co-Pilot -Serial/model number: G1701143420 -Ref/Lot: GS0M70604 -Location: Kunshan, PRC -Production: 022017
I was riding a 2025 [REDACTED] bike with the WeeRide CoPilot properly attached. My 9-year-old, 60-lb son was riding the WeeRide CoPilot. My son has Down Syndrome, but he is very familiar with the CoPilot, and we frequently ride together. We had ridden about a mile from home when I heard metallic sounds. I was already slowing as I was coming to a stop sign. My speed was probably less than 5 mph. I quickly turned to see my son on the Co-Pilot unattached from my bike and falling to the rough parking lot pavement. He was wearing a [REDACTED] helmet, but he did scrape and bruise his hand, elbow and leg. Had I been riding faster, this would have been a catastrophic tragedy.
