No one hurt Made Apr 2, 2015, sent to the company Apr 17, 2015, published by CPSC May 1, 2015
The product, in the report: Bicycles Bicycle Helmet Serial number: A10-091 04/12 55-60
This caller purchased his bicycle helmet in October 2013 and had no problems with it until March 27th, 2015. He was riding his bicycle, heard a clicking sound and then realized that his chin strap had come undone. He thought at first that he had not fastened it well so he rode to the side of the road, re-buckled the chin strap then began riding the bike again. After maybe two or three blocks of his three mile commute home from work the chin strap came un-buckled again. When he arrived home he said that the helmet was just sitting on his head like a hat and it would not have provided any protection in that state.
There are no injuries being reported. The caller states that he contacted the manufacturer and said they showed no interest in his case. They did offer him a new chin strap but said that he would have to sew/stitch it. He does not feel comfortable with this remedy and is asking for the same remedy offered to owners of the helmets recalled with release# 15-045. The model before his and the model after his is recalled with this release but not his model of XB034.
