The product, in the report: A 14oz (.4 kilograms) lycra-covered soft gel seat for ultimate, cushioned comfort. The Ultimate bike seat design offers the most comfortable bike seat in the world. It is the seat design recommended by the doctors at the US National Institute of Safety & Health (NIOSH) who understand anatomy as well as the legal professionals who understand the meaning of the word “safe”. From the manufacturer’s website: http://store.thecomfortseat.com/Ultimate-Black-Gel-Bike-Seat-w-Padded-Lycra-Cover-_p_8.html#.VbvYmzZRG00
While riding, one of the metal rails securing the saddle to the bicycle snapped. I asked a bike shop owner if he had ever seen this happen. He said he had, but only in a major crash. I did not crash. I was riding on level pavement at about 15 mph. I weigh 165 lbs. If I had been moving with any speed, or on a corner, I’d have fallen off the bike, without warning. I contacted the manufacturer to warn them of the defect. I have received no reply. This is a defect that could kill someone.
