The product, in the report: Bicycle (size unknown) (women’s model)
69 year old caller was riding his bicycle which is purposely chosen as a women’s model due to health reasons on August 14th when the down tube broke/severed from frame and dumped him to the asphalt causing him to hit his chest. His chest was not injured but he received bruising on his left knee, scrapes on his right knee, both elbows scraped and he has a re-occurring pain in his left foot. He went to the doctor’s office to inquire about the re-occurring pain in his left foot and a less severed re-occurring pain in his right foot. Neither foot was hurting before the accident. Doctor advised that nothing was showing on xrays as the reason for the pain in either foot.
He has not contacted the manufacturer but he did take the bicycle to the retailer who has possession of the bicycle and who has been in contact with the manufacturer. Bicycle is recalled and frame is being replaced by retailer/dealer. Caller would like to comment on wording of release because he believes it to be slightly deceptive in that it does not present the actual hazard of harm to rider.
Consumer Added: The Boardwalk Bike shop is in receipt of a new bicycle frame from the manufacturer to replace the broken frame. The bike shop must remove all the parts (i.e wheels, chain, seat etc) from the old frame and reinstall all these items onto the new frame. The manufacturer has instructed the bike shop to return the old broken bike frame to them.
