The product, in the report: Novara Stinger 16” Kids’ Bike Serial # ACA13F007097
My son was riding his Bike (a Nauvaro Stinger 16 - purchased at REI http://www.rei.com/product/814571/novara-stinger-16-kids-bike-2015?s_kwcid=s7iaZp5TM_dc%7Cpcrid%7C71492825645%7Cpkw%7Cnovara%20stinger%2016%22%7Cpmt%7Ce%7Cgoogle%7Cmain%7CNB&gclid=CjwKEAjws7OwBRCn2Ome5tPP8gESJAAfopWs0nKbCIfuMHoKZlbFWnRtcqH0KagZ8U72DXk8K2ZKABoCjZPw_wcB) when he was breaking the breaks would not apply and he had a very substantial crash - knocking out teeth, skinning his face and cracking his helmet in two. Upon looking at the bike we discovered that there is a single spot in the rotation that if he applies the breaks the chain guard will prevent the peddle from rotating backwards - preventing the brakes from being applied). We went into the store and were able to replicate the issue on every single on of these bikes that were at the store. We are working with REI to replace our bike but the issue seemed big enough to report. It is quite dangerous.

The product, in the report: 2009 Novara Flyby Buzz 8-speed folding bicycle Make: Novara Model: FlyBy Buzz 2009 Serial # D804708693
The hinge of my folding bicycle, 2009 Novarra Flyby Buzz, fell apart. I didn’t fall as it fell off right as I dismounted. I did not ride the bicycle again after that. I took it to REI (Recreational Equipment Inc) to have it serviced. They admitted to the problem of the hinge pin falling off but were unable to find a replacement part.
