No one hurt Made May 23, 2018, sent to the company Aug 17, 2018, published by CPSC Sep 7, 2018
The product, in the report: 20” Next Girls’ Girl Talk Bike in a vibrant, teal paint finish. This bicycle features a steel frame, a front caliper hand brake with a resin lever and rear coaster brake, one piece crank, single stem and decorated grips with streamers. Knobby tires offer better traction. Girls will love the stylish graphics, accents on the seat, grips and bag and the paint effect. This Next Girls’ Girl Talk bike features a deluxe bag that attaches onto the handlebars with coordinating grips and seat, and ultra shimmery streamers for that glam touch. The adjustable, quick-release seat post offers the rider a more custom fit.
Got this bike for my daughters birthday. Bought not assembled, in box, since the ones they had at the store were dirty, poorly assembled, and the front wheels seemed wobbly on all of them. I assumed they were improperly, or incompletely assembled by the store person(s). Got the box home, and sorted all the parts, prior to assembly. I noticed the front wheel felt wobbly. I assumed it would tighten up after I assembled it. After it was completely assembled, I was doing the final adjustments/fine tunings, and noticed the front wheel protruding towards the left side. The wheel bearings seemed to not be properly/completely pressed, and the front wheel forks were crooked/bent, seemingly improperly manufactured. Also, the kickstand scraped against the rear wheel’s spokes when in the folded or up position. I had to bend it outwards by hand to resolve the issue, but, it seems the metal eventually returns to its original shape, causing more scrapes.
Lastly, there were many parts missing from the box, albeit the box was completely sealed when I bought it. I assume they were omitted at the factory. I returned to the store, and quickly inspected their bikes. There was one of these models left, and it seemed to have identical issues as ours. I highly doubt our bike was a one-off misbuild. I have looked at the same bike models at other stores, and they all seemed to have the same defects. Even if a consumer assembles this bicycle model, it will still not be safe for a child to ride on. Also, I read many reviews online by other customers whom complained of the same problems. I returned her bike to the store, and received a refund. Unfortunately, she had also told her grandparents that she wanted that bike, and lo and behold when her birthday came here comes Grandpop rolling in a shiny, brand new, turquoise and pink Girl Talk bike w. a pink ribbon on the handlebars. I could see the front wheel wobbling as he approached us. My daughter graciously accepted it, but, would not ride it. We have the bike here, unridden, as its unsafe. Consumer and buyers beware.

The product, in the report: boy’s bicycle
(11/11/15) The consumer stated that she was getting on the bike. She placed her foot on left hand side. She started to bring her right foot around when the pedal fell off. The consumer’s ankle turned and the consumer fell down on the pavement on her left side. The bike landed on top of her. The handle bar hit her right breast.
(11/11/2015) The consumer was taken to Health First located on Gateway Drive in Melbourne, Fl. There were x-rays done on her left ankle. It was determined that the consumer had a bad sprain.
The consumer stated that her right breast is badly bruised and painful. She has not had it checked.
The consumer added her sister rode this bike some 2 weeks before and had this happen twice. The consumer also added her sister replaced it tightly the first time only to have it fall off again. The submitter noted her sister forgot to tell her it was unsafe!

First aid Made Aug 11, 2015, sent to the company Aug 19, 2015, published by CPSC Sep 2, 2015
The product, in the report: Dynacraft NEXT boy’s bike purchased from Walmart
My family purchased a Dynacraft NEXT boy’s bike from Walmart and within 12 hours the rear tire and tube had split open. We then spent another 2 hours of our camping vacation, and more money on replacing the tube, tire, and purchasing tools to get the lug nuts off the bike tire (that required WD 40, and two tool sets because they were tightened with such force). The tire was properly inflated to the recommended PSI and the bike was supposedly “checked” by Walmart personnel before we left the store. We have receipts for all items purchased, and kept the busted tube and tire. This is simply unacceptable quality; we shouldn’t spend nearly as much on repairing a day-old bike as we spent on the bike itself. Luckily my stepson only suffered minor scrapes after the tire blew.
I have reported this to the company (11 days ago) and have heard nothing back from them.

The product, in the report: 18” BIKE by NEXT yellow and blue Surge model received Christmas 2011
Received a Next bike (model Surge) for Christmas 2011. One of the bars that the pedal attaches to has the threads going the wrong way so the pedal screws on wrong so that when my son pedals it eventually comes unscrewed, falls off, and causes him to fall. There was no nut included with the bike and the bolt on the actual pedal is barely long enough to go through the hole that even if we bought a nut, we couldn’t attach it to the pedal. The last time this happened, he was cut by the pedal bar.

First aid Made Jun 16, 2012, sent to the company Jul 9, 2012, published by CPSC Jul 23, 2012
The product, in the report: “Next Bicycle” silver and maroon. sold at walmart. i believe that it is a 28 inch wheel base
I was riding on my “next” bicycle that I had purchased from Walmart, and as I was pedaling down a hill, one of the pedals shattered. the loss of the pedal sent me off balance and caused me to cut my shin open on the bar that the pedal had been attached to. I was also so thrown off balance that I fell and cut open my hand and scraped my elbow. I took the bike to a bike shop and got a new pedal put on. a week later, I was riding along in 7th gear, and the chain slipped and i fell and hurt my ankle. i had been in the middle of pedaling and the chain just gave way but didn’t break.
