The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

  1. No incident, no one hurt

Made Sep 7, 2021, sent to the company Sep 9, 2021, published by CPSC Sep 23, 2021

The product, in the report: Cycling helmet Lazer G1 Mips. This helmet is not safe.

I had a chance to inspect FOUR bicycle helmets Lazer G1 Mips, and ALL had faults that are safety concerns. I first purchased the helmet Lazer G1 Mips (size M, black) from an online vendor ( biketiresdirect.com). The received helmet had a safety issue as there was a cut in the foam with no ability to see how deep the cut was. After seeing the pictures, Lazer customer support told me to exchange it. The second helmet that I received had the same cut in the foam. I decided to get a refund from the vendor and order from Lazer directly. The third helmet I received was even more unsafe as the tightening mechanism (on this helmet called the rollsys system) did not work. An inexperienced user would have not known that it is unsafe to wear a helmet that way. Lazer told me to destroy it and sent me another helmet, now the fourth one. This one was even worse in terms of safety because the inner plastic structure that goes around the head was not fully attached to the remaining parts of the helmet. Upon closer inspection it turned out that a plastic triangular actor point that is normally located in the foam was completely missing in one part of the helmet. In other words, 100% construction error. Again, an inexperienced rider would have not noticed and would have worn a very unsafe helmet where the foam and outer shell were not even fully attached to the system that goes around the rider’s head. In case of a crash, this helmet would have been barely better than not wearing a helmet at all.
