No one hurt Made Dec 4, 2017, sent to the company May 22, 2018, published by CPSC Jun 28, 2018
The product, in the report: WBD230M4168L Serial number for the bike which is a Kestrel Talon Carbon frame Triathlon Bike.
I purchased a Kestrel Talon triathlon bike. The company offered a warranty with purchase for manufacturing defects. I had 3500 training miles in 12 months of use on the bike and the frame cracked. The company failed to honor their warranty stating that the bike design is known to fail in the manner that it did. They indicated via email that the bike was not manufactured wrong but that the way my bike failed is due to a design flaw. So, per their admission, it seems they are knowingly manufacturing and selling a carbon frame triathlon bike that has a “known” design flaw. This is dangerous! I have all the email and communications with the company to back up my claim of product defects.

Hospital admission Made May 2, 2012, sent to the company May 24, 2012, published by CPSC Jun 8, 2012
The product, in the report: Kestrel 200 EMS road bike, carbon fiber frame and fork
At approximately 10:00 am on Monday, 16 April 2012, I was riding my Kestrel EMS 200 bicycle (carbon fiber) on [REDACTED] (north of the Golden Gate Bridge) toward Sausalito, California. Without warning, the front fork broke, ejecting the front wheel and causing me to crash. I was doing nothing unusual (I didn’t hit anything, the road was smooth, I was travelling at a reasonable speed of ~ 15-17 mph). After I regained consciousness, I was taken to the Marin General Hospital where I was diagnosed with 3 broken ribs and shoulder separation (right side) and a collapsed lung (left side). I spent 4 days being treated at the hospital. A report was prepared by, and filed with, the Sausalito police department.
