No one hurt Made Jun 16, 2021, sent to the company Jun 21, 2021, published by CPSC Jul 6, 2021
The product, in the report: Jamis “Dakar” bicycle. 2016 model year, 17” Frame Size, Serial #18013-2
I was riding my bicycle, a “Jamis Dakar” manufactured in 2016 and the rear chain-stay (Bike Frame) snapped in half % I lost control of the bike but did not crash as I was not going very fast at the time. The rear wheel was loose, wobbling & rubbing against the frame. If I had been going faster, this could have been very dangerous (I had been riding over 30 MPH a day earlier and this could have had a much worse outcome).

No one hurt Made Jan 13, 2015, sent to the company Jan 22, 2015, published by CPSC Feb 5, 2015
The product, in the report: Dakota Grey touring bicycle with 700c tires, 35mm wide, make # 039047GY with hydraulic brakes sold as a road bike under the category of “Adventure Bikes” in Jamis online catalog.
I purchased a Jamis Aurora Elite “adventure bike” that is configured as a touring bicycle with 35 mm tires on road bike wheels and fenders. I am 5’11”, 75 years old and was sold a 55 cm bicycle by a Jamis dealer, namely Tread bike shop in Campbell, CA. on January 4, 2015 for about $1650. The bicycle is sold without pedals so that a user can use any comfortable pedals, such as pedals with toe clips, which is the type of pedal that was installed by the dealer for me. I did not notice at the time of my test ride and purchase but later discovered that there is a toe clip interference situation that appears to be Jamis design defect. The defect is that when the pedals are horizontal and one pedal is in a maximum forward position, the pedal interferes with the fender by a large amount on low speed turns, stopping the turn and leading to a rider imbalance and possible fall. Even if the front fender were removed, the front tire would create toe clip interference when pedals are horizontal, i.e. in the maximum forward position. The dealer claimed that toe clip interference is a “normal” condition and I must ride so that interference does not occur when turning. From many years of riding, I know that this is not possible because turns must sometimes occur very quickly and there is no time to adjust pedal position. Moreover, horizontal pedal position is the normal pedal position when coasting through a turn. The toe clip interference was not disclosed as a warning in the Jamis product literature and is a design flaw and hazard, particularly for seniors, in my opinion.

Emergency room Made Jan 15, 2014, sent to the company Jan 27, 2014, published by CPSC Feb 10, 2014
The product, in the report: 2013 JAMIS Trail Bike Color: Silver Model: D29 comp
Hello, I purchase a new 2013 Trail bike Model - JAMIS Dakota D29 Comp. I believe that after riding it and flying off the bike multiple times that this bike has multiple manufacturing defects that causes riders to be ejected and can be easily duplicated by simply applying the brake the bike goes into a cart wheel type situation and throws the rider forward and off the bike. In my case I hit a tree and the ground after being thrown forward, thus receiving injuries to not limited to the Neck. Cervix, Ribs, Chest, Clavicle or Trapezius, Sartorius and Gracis muscles. I have since the accident have loss about 20 pounds of muscles.
I have been riding bikes of all kinds in excess of 20 years as an adult and 10 mores as a child and teen without ever an incident. I am not a dare devil nor a professional trail or road bike rider, nor did I buy a high performance bicycle requiring special skills, nor have I ever competed. I am Males age 52, with a family who rides bikes and walks 30 min a day for health and weight maintenance. I have incurred over 8000.00 in medical bills and 4 month now of loss of income as a result of this defect pertaining to the bike geometry and factory designed and setup. Moreover, I continue to take very strong pain medication as a result of these product injuries to by body. I know expect further treatment, such as rehab for continued muscle loss and possible neck surgery and needed MRI. I also suffer from cold ongoing swets.
I have notice via online research that JAMIS has made many corrections of these defects and can be noted on the new corrected 2014 model - JAMIS Dakota D29 Comp and related products, but that effort by the manufacture will not fix my now health problems and injuries nor that of others who currently own this very dangerous product.. You will note, the bike manufactures response on the matter was to contact the bike selling dealer or bike shop. The bike shop said they could do nothing. They made some adjustments and sent me away, only to get thrown off again on my next ride.
I would invite CPSC to visit my home and research in person the easily duplicated dangerous defects that are part of this product.
I am asking CPSC for your assistance in booth replacement of the defective product, investigation on the product dangerous traits to myself and other owners, that the Manufacture and Bike shop provide evidence of insurance coverage and notifies their respective insurance companies that a product liability causing bodily harm claim exist.
Moreover I am tired of sleeping sitting down as a result of the pain, Please help.
Thanking you in advance [REDACTED]
