The product, in the report: 2011 Giant Anthem X 29er 2 - inclusion of additional serial numbers, including those beginning with GW, is required due to the manufacturer’s correction being inadequate to reduce the risk of serious injury. As indicated in CPSC Release [REDACTED] (see below), the frame has cracked at the junction of the seat post and top tube. I contacted the manufacturer, however, I was told that the serial number on my frame indicated that it was among those manufactured after the issue was identified and a correction was made. The representative told me that the weld at the junction of the seat post and top tube was made stronger. However, this modification did not prevent the failure.

The product, in the report: Giant carbon fiber seatpost. Numbers inside seatpost are 1702 and 0605
I have a 2007 Giant TCR Advanced 1 road bike. Last Friday afternoon on a bike ride, the seat bolt broke suddenly and without warning, and I fell from the bicycle. I suffered road rash; shoulder, hip, and thigh bruising, a sprained thumb, and lost several layers of skin on the tip of my thumb. The bicycle also sustained heavy scratching.
I stopped Milwaukee police for aid, but they were only able to call paramedics, so I immediately sought care at an urgent care clinic.

The product, in the report: Giant PeaPod Duo Child bike trailer in orange. https://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-us/gear/product/peapod.duo.child.trailer/567/38642/
Manufacturer: Giant
Product: Pea Pod bike trailer
Purchased the Giant Pea Pod trailer from Steamboat Ski & Bike Kare on July 5 2015.
After using the trailer for two days it flipped over onto it’s side. Luckily the trailer was empty at the time so there were no injuries. The trailer did sustain some scuffs and minor damage. I took the trailer back to Steamboat Ski & Bike Kare and expressed our concern. They inspected the trailer and my bike, a Navara Ponderosa mountain bike, and suggested that the flip was due to the trailer being unweighted (no kids in it ) and the unusual frame on my bike. They made a suggestion as to how the bike was being mounted and sent us on our way. The user manual of the Pea Pod clearly states that the “Giant Pea Pod trailer is designed to attach easily to any full-size bicycle” so we were confident the issue was resolved.
A week later on July 15th 2015 the trailer flipped again, this time with our two kids inside, resulting in serious injury to our 4 year old daughter.
Her finger was trapped between the bike frame and the concrete while the trailer slid to a stop. This resulted in the need for emergency orthopedic surgery from a pediatric orthopedic hand surgeon to save her finger. She is now looking at life long reduced functionality and possibly additional surgeries as she gets older.
We took the trailer back to Steamboat Ski & Bike Kare and explained what had happened. They agreed that the unique frame on my Navara mountain bike changes the mechanics of the trailer mounting system and this potentially contributed to the accident.

The product, in the report: Folding Bicycle - Broken crank shaft. F/N GD684276
This is to report to you an incident involving a Giant Halfway folding bicycle. While riding this bike in traffic, the left hand crank arm broke. This caused me to fall and crash, putting myself in a perilous situation.
Luckily I avoided serious injury under difficult conditions but did suffer numerous bruises and abrasions. Were it not for a pause in traffic, no doubt I would not have survived.
I am concerned for other users of this bicycle and the potential that this could happen to someone else, with a possible life threatening outcome.
I have attached pictures of the crank arm.
