First aid Made Jul 15, 2019, sent to the company Jul 29, 2019, published by CPSC Aug 12, 2019
The product, in the report: 20” Genesis Boys’ Krome 2.0 Bike, Blue
The brakes failed on a bicycle I purchased for my 12-year-old daughter and she went through an intersection in a residential neighborhood and hit a truck. An examination of the bicycle revealed the cause was the wheels were painted where the brake pads rub against the rims and the paint provided inadequate friction. The bicycle was 11days old at the time and part of the paint had rubbed off but not enough to make a difference.
The bicycle was purchased from Walmart on 7-3-19. The bicycle is described as “20” Genesis Boys’ Krome 2.0 Bike, Blue”. It has hand brakes only, no foot brake.

No one hurt Made Mar 26, 2014, sent to the company Apr 2, 2014, published by CPSC Apr 16, 2014
The product, in the report: Genesis G500 700c Men’s Road Bike, Red
The rear derailleur of the bicycle broke when my son rode it. He was not injured. However, I see the the risk that in such incident the derailleur will get into the spokes, block the rear wheel, and make the rider fall into traffic. The derailleur material is cast aluminum, and it seems it suffered a stress fracture from repeated use.
