The product, in the report: Gary Fisher bicycle, see below for model, etc.
I have a Gary Fisher Fast City bike. I purchased it about 6 years ago, it is one of the first 29’ers. The configuration of the bike is for road riding, even though it has front suspension.
I am filing this because the bike does not have adequate ground clearance between the padals and ground.
Shortly after I bought the bike I realized that the pedal on the inside of a turn needed to be in a up position, I own about 15 bikes and have been an avid rider since the early 1970’s.
I called Trek when I realized this, and the customer service people recommended that I replace the crank arms with shorter ones if this was a concern, but otherwise they had no advice.
So, since I bought the bike I have always ridden it with this design flaw in mind. My first major lapse in attention was last fall, riding with my wife on a rail trail. I made a turn, a gently turn at a fairly slow speed, and the pedal was down, and basically jacked the bike up and the wheels went left and I fell to the right and bloodied my elbow and knee.

The product, in the report: 24-speed Gary Fisher Utopia Bicycle
I was riding my bicycle downhill on a neighborhood street when, without warning, the bolt attaching the seat broke, causing me to do a faceplant into the asphalt, resulting in a traumatic brain injury, broken teeth, lacerations including to the face, contusions to the quad tendons, and a dislocated finger.
I would like to see the CPSC require a seat attachment system where a bolt breaking will not cause a catastrophic accident, i.e. require a two bolt seat attachment system.
Too many people in this country are currently at risk of this same catastrophic failure without even realizing it.
