The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Women’s Fuji Saratoga 3.0 blue bicycle

Fuji Saratoga 3.0 woman’s bicycle. I was crossing a controlled intersection with the pedestrian light and went over a small bump at which time my bike frame broke in two pieces! I immediately fell to the ground on my left skinning my knee and resulting with pain in my knee and upper thigh all the way to the pelvis.

The product, in the report: Fuji Saratoga 2.0 Women’s (comfort, pedal forward) 21 speed, blue/gray bike

I was returning from my ride and going up the junction of my driveway and the street when my bike broke in half. The downtube broke cleanly in half as if someone sawed through it. I fell and sustained several nasty bruises on my legs and midsection, in addition to cuts and bruises to my mouth. I immediately went to the dentist for a jaw assessment and they determined that no stitches were needed. I own a Fuji Saratoga 2.0 Women’s comfort bike, which I purchased approximately 10-12 years ago from a store in Houston called “Tri on the Run” which went out of business more that 6 years ago. Thus I never received a recall notice on this product.

The product, in the report: A Fuji Saratoga 3.0 I use for recreation

I had just gotten off a busy street and was on bicycle trail and my bicycle split in two. I think I’ll have to get stitches in my arm and hope I don’t have a concussion, broke off and flew onto the pavement. I use it for recreation and it hurts.

The submitter added she is so lucky to be alive, and thank God she was on an uphill...She dreaded what could have happened. The submitter also noted she sees there was a recall on these for this specific problem, but she was never informed of it..

The product, in the report: Fuji Saratoga womens bicycle

I was riding my Fuji Saratoga womens bicycle this morning. The bike split into two pieces and I fell to the ground. I hit my head. The entire left side on my body smashed into the roadway. A Good Samaritan took me home and then I went to urgent care. I had X-rays taken of my left shoulder. I had the cuts to my knee, wrist and elbow cleaned and treated. I had the road rash on my left shoulder cleaned and treated. There is a large knot on my forehead . And my left hip is swollen and painful.

After returning from urgent care I googled the bicycle and found the recall notice. I have moved since I purchased the bicycle. If a recall notice was sent I did not receive it.

I have a picture of the broken bike . I can mail it to you if you would like to see it.

The product, in the report: 23” Bicycles

Caller attempting to contact Fuji about bicycle regarding distance from pedal to wheel which he believes becomes a safety hazard when turning corners.

When rider is turning corners on the bicycle their foot would hit the wheel and potentially cause them to become injured in possible accident.

He said that there is only a one inch and a quarter distance between the pedal and the tire.

Bicycle was purchased for his grandson by child’s parents. Grandfather does not allow grandson to ride bicycle due to potential danger of harm.
