My toddler was sitting on a bike that was gifted to us by a neighbor. The bike is the Dynacraft Suspect 16” Bike which can be found here:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/Dynacraft-Suspect-16-Bike/371489723?wmlspartner=wlpa&selectedSellerId=0&adid=22222222227000000000&wl0=&wl1=g&wl2=c&wl3=42423897272&wl4=aud-1651068663986:pla-51320962143&wl5=9023254&wl6=&wl7=&wl8=&wl9=pla&wl10=8175035&wl11=online&wl12=371489723&veh=sem&gclid=CjwKCAiAioifBhAXEiwApzCztqwtZVT1ZletK-bFL10gKi6bNFqSHiHJAD-N4NfERxGSZe97Y3kxShoCxGYQAvD_BwE
He wasn’t riding it. He just leaned over and fell. When he fell the bike landed on him, but as he fell the handlebars turned and he actually scrapped the underside of his chin and neck on the handlebar grip and made his way down to the handle bar itself. The protective pad that’s on the handlebar has a foil like plastic covering that also has a sharp edge on. That sharp edge is what ended up making a clean cut on his neck (see attached photos). The cut was deep to where you could see the fat in his neck and and we had to take him to the emergency room. This happened the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2022. My son has since healed, but I very concerned in how sharp the edge.
I reported the injury to the manufacturer of the bike “Dynacraft” the first week of December and provided them some details of the incident because I was fearful this could happen to someone else.
They have not been very responsive to the matter in my opinion. If my sons cut was any deeper on his neck I believe it could have been fatal. I just don’t want to see this happen to someone else’s kid.
The head of their customer service did call me on 1/5/23 after a few emails. She asked me to send them a picture of the serial number on the bike in addition to the photos I had already sent them through their online submittal process. I sent them the attached photos when I first called their customer service line about it originally and they has me submit a form on line. The case number I have open with them is [REDACTED].
The customer service department had offered to provide us with a new bike of our choice on the phone and by email. She also asked by me to send her our records of any medical bills. A new bike isn’t my goal, but I did go and look at the new bikes as Wal-mart on display. What I found was that all their toddler bike have similar protective pads on them that have sharp edges to them that could easily cut the skin if you hit them right (see other photos). No different than a paper cut, but is a plastic foil type material. Again this slit my sons neck wide open. I want to make sure they are correcting the problem. I let them know that was my opinion on the matter and did not feel it would be safe to have one for their bikes as a replacement. I was told on 1/25/23 by email that someone else at Dynacraft would be reaching out to me that is more in a design role for them to discuss the issue. I have not heard back from them at this point, which is why I’m submitting the report. I have more emails and photos that I can provide.
I was also contacted by [REDACTED] at [REDACTED]. Who is representing Dyncraft as a Claims administrator. I gave him all the same details I gave Dynacraft. Their file number is [REDACTED] and he can be reached at [REDACTED] [REDACTED].
Not sure what else to do at this point.

No one hurt Made May 7, 2017, sent to the company Jul 26, 2017, published by CPSC Aug 16, 2017
The product, in the report: Dynacraft 12” bicycle with thomas train
I bought this bicycle for my younger son and although The assembly was done right(I confirmed it with the manuals and toysrus), its handle turns 360 degrees while riding the 12” bicycle. As I bought two bicycles(a minion for elder kid which worked excellent), I assembled this bicycle few months after I bought it. This happens more when my 3.5 years old son is riding it a little faster. Has resulted in two accidents and I took it back to Toysrus and they provided me basically with zero customer service and gave this reporting website. I am concerned and hence decided that I will not let my kid ride this anymore. He is also scared to ride the bicycle although he loves the shape of Thomas train on this Dynacraft cycle. To me, it is a safety issue but basically the store where I bought refused to further help me or even return the product.

No one hurt Made Jul 24, 2013, sent to the company Aug 23, 2013, published by CPSC Sep 9, 2013
The product, in the report: Bicycle
The caller stated that while testing the bike she noticed that there is only one brake on the left handle which when you depress the brake the back wheel catapult forward and this can throw the child over the handle bar. She was just using her hand and pushing the bike in the room. This bike was purchased for a 8 year old child.
The manufacturer or retailer was not contacted as yet.
She feels that this bike is a safety hazard and should be taken off the market before a child gets injured. She is planning to return the bike to the retailer but needed the agency to be aware of the dangerous product.

First aid Made Jul 9, 2012, sent to the company Jul 18, 2012, published by CPSC Aug 1, 2012
The product, in the report: Dynacraft 18” BMX Girls Barbie Bike model 8091-37
We bought a bike for my 5 year old from Toys R Us in December of 2011. It is a Dynacraft 18” BMX Barbie Bike. model 8091-37 We have only used it a handful of times.
We were out riding our bikes yesterday (7/8/2012) and as my daughter was going down a hill, the pedel fell off of the bike which caused her to loose her balance and fall off of the bike. Thankfully she was wearing a helmet. She has brush burns and scratches on her shoulder and elbow. The helmet did protect her head from being injured. You can see in the pictures that the front of the helmet has chips and scratches on it from her head hitting the road. My husband tried to screw the pedel back on but it doesn’t seem to work.
I immediately started surfing the net to see if this had happen to anyone else. I did see that this brand was recalled for pedels falling off but not the model we have.

On approx Dec 23rd, 2010, I purchased a boys Next brand, Surge model bicycle for my 5-year old son. Since he has owned this bicycle, he has had numerous problems with it. Most of which, has caused him to have minor to serious bicycle accidents. The right pedal has come off & will not stay tightened & the thread has now been stripped. We had to use a pedal from a neighbor’s old bike so that my son may ride his bike again. The handle bars will not stay straight & frequently come loose & cause my son to lose control & not be able to steer properly. This incident has happened more than 3 times & the last time was on June 2nd, 2011. The handle-bars came loose, twisted to the side & caused my son to wreck badly. He landed face first into the concrete, he had a bloody nose, cuts on the top of his nose, loosened a tooth, knocked a second tooth out, scraped both elbows & knees, busted his top lip, cuts on his chin, cuts on the inside of his nose, rubber burns on the back of his legs from the handlebars. The seat will not stay straight as my son is riding it, even when the seat is tightly fastened. This also has caused many minor accidents as well.
