The product, in the report: Dimensions Kids Bike Helmet With Bluetooth Speaker Bicycle Helmet designed for children. The brand/model name is Dimensions Kids Bike Helmet With Bluetooth Speakers. Item # ACTGEAR-238BTS. Purchased through WalMart.com
In recent Consumer Reports’ bike helmet tests, one manufacturer’s helmet failed a crucial part of our safety evaluation, and we are concerned it can allow the helmet to get pushed out of position during an accident so that it no longer offers any protection. The buckle on the chinstrap of the Dimensions Kids Bike Helmet With Bluetooth Speakers helmet ($25) released in two out of two samples we evaluated during one of our routine bike helmet tests. The Dimensions Kids Bike Helmet With Bluetooth Speakers was the only one helmet that failed out of the 18 helmets that we put through the same test. We are not aware of any injuries related to chinstrap performance on the Dimensions Kids Bike Helmet With Bluetooth Speakers. In response to CR’s findings, Sakar International (the manufacturer) told CR that the helmet “has had no failure points around the retention strap or any other major safety issue in any other previous testing report.” The company also said that it did not have “any consumer complaints directly or indirectly about any retention strap issue.”
