The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Foam Pillow and Polyester cover

I am reporting a serious injury that occurred immediately following my first use of a newly delivered Derila memory-foam pillow. The pillow was ordered on August 23, 2026, under order number ECOM-20260823-150 and delivered on August 26, 2026. I slept on it for the first time during the night of August 27, 2026. When I awakened on the morning of August 28, my right eye was painful, itching, crusted with drainage, and extremely swollen. Before sleeping on this new pillow, I had not experienced these symptoms. I sought treatment at urgent care on August 28 and was prescribed eye drops. My condition worsened despite that initial treatment. On August 30, 2026, I went to the Kettering Health Miamisburg Emergency Department because of the severe pain, swelling, itching, crusting, and difficulty opening the eye. I was diagnosed with preseptal cellulitis of the right eye and received additional medical treatment. The symptoms developed on the same side of my face and eye that had contact with the pillow. The reaction began following the first overnight use. I am reporting the pillow as the suspected exposure based on this close timing and direct contact. The condition prevented me from performing salon services from August 28 through September 3 and caused me to miss two days from my daytime employment. It also caused substantial pain, visible facial and eyelid swelling, difficulty seeing through the affected eye, embarrassment, and disruption of my normal activities. I reported the incident to Derila and provided photographs and medical information. Derila refunded the $135.27 purchase price. However, its customer-support representative stated that support could not open or forward an injury claim, identify an insurer or claims administrator, or provide a product-injury claim number. The company said only that my experience would be shared with its product team. Derilas current published information identifies EcomLT LLC, 354 Downs Blvd., Suite 102, Franklin, Tennessee 37064, as the operator of the Derila brand. The email correspondence I received also contains the name UAB Orbio World. I have asked the seller to identify the pillows manufacturer, importer, distributor, batch or lot number, materials, treatments, testing records, and any similar adverse-event reports. I am concerned that the pillow or its cover may have contained an irritant, allergen, chemical residue, contamination, or another condition capable of causing eye or skin injury. I am also concerned that other consumers could experience similar reactions. Medical records document my urgent-care and emergency-department treatment and the diagnosis of right-eye preseptal cellulitis. I request that the CPSC evaluate this report, identify the responsible manufacturer and importer, determine whether similar incidents have been reported, and assess whether examination or testing of the preserved pillow is appropriate.
