The product, in the report: BANSHEE - DEMON CRUISER Bicycle
I just typed up a report but it may not have sent so I will now retype.
I am a lawyer who represents a young man at [REDACTED]
He purchased a new bike from 3 Brothers Bike store in Los Angeles. This new bike was a BANSHEE made - sold by DEMON CRUISERS and / or [REDACTED] dba ARIZONA WHOLESALE BIKES.
he rode the bike for about 3 weeks and chain became lose. He ensured it was back on and the next day he was riding through an intersection and it came off completely and he was thrown to the ground. he broke his knee.
I hired a bike expert to examine the bike. He purchased several exemplars of the identical bike. He experienced the same chin failure and when he took the bikes apart found the identical defect: the manufacturer chose and installed / directed to be installed, the incorrect retainer (right and left) crank cups, for the bottom bracket unit. The crank cups were too large for the bearings that were provided with the bicycle and that caused crank failure. The bottom bracket unit loosened up causing excessive play in the bottom bracket assembly, resulting in misalignment of the crank sprocket and the chain, allowing the chain to suddenly fall off the bike. Whoever imported it may not have done requisite testing mandated by the Consumer Product Safety Commission in order to market the bicycle.
My expert is [REDACTED NAME]( [REDACTED PHONE AND EMAIL] . He suggested I file a report as this product is unsafe. He can explain more about why. My phone number is [REDACTED].
