  1. Emergency room

Made Aug 10, 2026, sent to the company Aug 12, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 26, 2026

The product, in the report: BXT Carbon Fiber Folding Bike Frame, T1000.

I am filing a formal complaint against BXT Bikes regarding a catastrophic structural failure of a carbon bicycle frame purchased directly from bxtbikes.com. On my second ride using this frame, the bicycle unexpectedly split completely in half while I was traveling at approximately 20 mph in a dedicated bike lane. The only road feature encountered was a standard, minor bump measuring less than one inch. There were no major obstacles or impacts prior to the frame fracturing. As a direct result of this sudden structural failure, I suffered a severe crash. The handlebars struck my chest with significant force, and I rolled onto the pedestrian sidewalk. Nearby cyclists witnessed the incident and offered to call emergency services (911). My spouse transported me to the emergency room, where I underwent extensive medical evaluation, including multiple X-rays and CT scans. While I fortunately escaped bone fractures or internal organ damage, the incident caused significant physical trauma and medical expense. Following the crash, I contacted BXT to report the dangerous defect and request a full refund. BXT refused the refund, demanding video footage of the active ride and crash. This is an unreasonable requirement, as I do not ride with an active camera. I have provided BXT with comprehensive evidence, including on-scene photographs, emergency room medical bills, detailed photos of the fractured frame, and clear cross-section images of the broken tubing. BXTs refusal to take responsibility for a catastrophic structural failure on a brand-new product points to a severe lack of quality control. This frame poses an immediate, life-threatening risk of carbon fracture to the public.
