The product, in the report: Bike pulley to be able to lift bikes to ceiling for storage.
I purchased the Blue Hawk 1-Bike Steel Bike Hoist Item #: 5884 | Model #: 45670PKDLG From Lowes in Independence MO. had it up for about 6 months and it worked fine. On September 24, 2015, I was trying to lower one of my 2 bikes from this device in the garage (12 foot ceilings). In order to “unlock” it, you have to pull toward front of device much like blinds. While doing this, it would not release so I had to try different angles but not changing my position more than 2 feet. after about 30 seconds, the bike came crashing down onto my face. On exam, the rope had frayed and broke over the middle pulley. I had one tooth come completely out (retrieved from garage floor and put into milk). within about 45 minutes I was at my dentist that also found that 3 other teeth had also been knocked out but remained in place. The bill (my portion) was $700- and that was after dentist gave me a discount. This is the first step in the repair, next one in 8 weeks when wire comes out and final setting takes place- my anticipated cost for this step will be about $1000.
