No incident, no one hurt Made Oct 17, 2024, sent to the company Oct 22, 2024, published by CPSC Nov 5, 2024
The product, in the report: Toddler Balance Bike 2 Year Old,Age 2 to 5 Years, 12-Inch Kids Bike with Customizable Plate (Includes 3 Sets of Stickers), Steady Balance,Suitable for 2-3 Boys Girls
I am reporting a serious issue with a kids’ balance bike I purchased from Amazon, which I believe violates multiple CPSC regulations. Upon receiving the product, I discovered that there were no labels or safety certifications on the packaging or the product itself, which is a clear violation of CPSCs mandatory labeling and certification requirements for children’s products. The bike emitted a strong chemical odor immediately after opening, which caused my child to feel dizzy. The absence of proper safety information, warnings, and certification means that this product should not be sold in the U.S., especially as it is marketed to children. I am particularly concerned because the bike also appears to be poorly constructed, and I fear that its unstable design could lead to physical harm. Selling a product like this without meeting the required safety standards is a significant violation. The product does not display the necessary Children’s Product Certificate (CPC) or comply with ASTM F963, which are mandatory for toys, and lacks any safety warnings about choking hazards, age appropriateness, or safe use, which further violates CPSC’s labeling requirements. Additionally, the strong odor may suggest the presence of harmful chemicals, which could violate CPSIA standards. As a parent, I am alarmed that such an unsafe product could be sold on a major platform like Amazon, and I request that CPSC investigate this products non-compliance. I urge action to ensure that dangerous products like this are removed from the U.S. market to protect children’s safety.
