How badly anyone was hurt

  • No one hurt 1 CPSC: Incident, No Injury

As each report says it, in short words; CPSC’s own words are under each.

The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Kenda brand inner tube for bicycles Model #s are 700x23 and 700x28 Serial #s include the following (note this represents 10 separate instances of the exact same failure) 310202110607 1115680924 1278890501 (700x28) 1217600823 110156110530 1135900608 110156110530 1217680219 1217600823 1217600823

Kenda brand bicycle inner tubes failing next to valve.

I’ve had 10 tubes within the past month from Kenda (manufacturer) fail in the exact same manner. I reached out to them as well as the distributer (QBP) and was issued replacements that also failed in the same exact way.

The puncture occurs on the inside of the tube about 1 inch away from the valve. All of my failures have occurred at low speed but it could very easily happen at a much faster speed and cause a catastrophic accident and injury.

Upon further investigation, I found the exact same issue happening to other users via the internet. Here are some of those posts with photographs that match my exact issue.
