The product, in the report: 3G Bikes “SLICKY-G” Bicycle Tire - 26” X 2.125” in brown https://www.3gbikes.com/product-page/slicky-g-bicycle-tires-26-x-2-125
I inflated the like-new SLICKY-G tire to _five pounds under_ the sidewall’s maximum recommended PSI, and the tube and tire violently ripped apart a minute later.
I thought that was a fluke, so I bought an identical replacement. A 26”x2.25” Slicky-G tire purchased from my local retailer on 11/6/20 has a flawed design: even at a lower pressure, it has weak sidewalls that erode, and slip off the rim in a dangerous blowout.
Specifically, on Sunday 1/10/21, I restored the new 3G tire’s pressure back up to 38 psi, exactly as the manufacturer’s website recommends. After a two minutes of slow riding, the 26”x2-2.4” tube pushed the tire’s soft sidewall right off the wheel’s rim, and puffed dangerously out.
I walked the bike home, partly deflated the tube, and used plastic bike tire levers to put the 3G Slicky-G tire back onto the rim. Slowly re-adding even 30 PSI caused the tire to come off the rim twice more — in two separate places! I also see that rubber and steel have come off or out of the unusable and dangerous tire’s sidewall. This 3G Bikes tire does not do its job of securely staying on the rim without exploding off or literally tearing apart under modest manufacturer-recommended inflation pressure.
This tire replaced an identical one that had blown out when I inflated it within to the labeled sidewall pressure
