No incident, no one hurt Made Aug 23, 2026, sent to the company Aug 27, 2026, published by CPSC Sep 14, 2026
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Ring, a smart ring wearable health tracker containing a built-in lithium-ion battery.
The internal lithium-ion battery of my Samsung Galaxy Ring has physically swollen, warped, and bloated out of its casing, making it impossible to fit back into its charging case. This creates an active fire, thermal, and chemical safety hazard inside my home. I opened a high-priority safety escalation file with Samsung Support on Friday (Ticket Number: [REDACTED]), but their specialized safety team missed their mandatory 48-hour response window and has completely ignored the issue. Furthermore, the Samsung account linked to the hardware used an old student email that I can no longer access, leaving me with no way to track updates through standard channels. I require a senior corporate escalations manager to contact my active email address immediately to handle safe disposal and a hardware replacement.

No incident, no one hurt Made Jul 20, 2026, sent to the company Jul 23, 2026, published by CPSC Aug 6, 2026
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Ring, Titanium Gold color, size 10. Model SM-Q500 AI Smart Ring. This is a wearable smart ring designed for continuous health and fitness tracking, including sleep monitoring, heart rate, and activity tracking. The ring is intended to be worn on the finger 24 hours a day.
I am reporting a Samsung Galaxy Ring (smart ring) because the internal battery has swollen, causing multiple cracks in the ring structure. While attempting to remove the ring from my finger, I discovered the battery had expanded significantly. The swelling forced the ring to crack in several places, and I had to use a lubricant to safely remove it.
This is not an isolated quality issue. Both my ring and my spouses ring experienced severe and rapid battery degradation within the first year of ownership. My original ring failed completely and was replaced under warranty. The replacement ring has now developed the same dangerous swelling and cracking.
The product was being used as intended -worn daily on the finger for health and activity tracking, including overnight while sleeping.
No injuries have occurred at this time. However, a swollen lithium battery in a wearable device poses a serious risk of chemical leakage, thermal runaway, fire, or explosion. This is the primary reason I am reporting the product.

Hurt, no treatment Made Oct 14, 2021, sent to the company Oct 19, 2021, published by CPSC Nov 2, 2021
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, 40mm, Pink Gold, Bluetooth. Model SM-R830NZDAXAR
Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 is marketed by Samsung as a waterproof device. Marketing by the company specifically illustrates submersion in pools and other water features. Samsung goes into detail on the products page of their website, on how to active the device for water use. My device never experienced submersion in water, only occasional splashing from hand washing. However, the device been to unexpectedly overheat, causing pain to the touch. When the device was returned to Samsung for repair, they stated that the device is not intended to make contact with water, and denied the warranty repair. Samsung markets the device as waterproof for use in multiple instances of water contact, yet limited water exposure can cause lead to water intrusion causing a short circuit leading to overheating. This overheating caused the device to be extremely hot, and unable to be held. If the device was worn by someone with limited feeling in their extremities, this could cause severe burning or worse.

First aid Made Sep 1, 2020, sent to the company Sep 30, 2020, published by CPSC Nov 10, 2020
The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2. Aqua Black. 44mm. pictures won’t load. But i have product and damage photos
This is an activity tracking watch with wifi capacity and a sleep tracker. I woke up Friday morning the 28th of August to find a red burn mark slightly smaller than a dime on my wrist. The heart rate tracker on the underside of the unit was noticeably warm. I took the watch off. (The pictures attached are from Tuesday September 1, of the healing wound and I put the watch on to show the position on my wrist.)
Watch model: SM-R820NZKAXAR It is my firm belief that the sensor became so hot it burned my wrist. I now have the loss of use of the watch, concern for the potential for an injury to others--this is not related to buyers nor is there a recall. If the device caught fire while on the charger everyone in my home would be at risk; I am also concerned for the larger implications of damage from this overheating problem.

The product, in the report: Samsung Galaxy Active Watch
My wife’s Samsung Galaxy Active Watch suddenly heated up and started smoking and mostly melted when placed on the charger. We sent it to Samsung and they said it had not melted but was damaged due to being exposed to water. It had not been exposed to water and is also labeled as being water proof.
