Hurt, no treatment Made Sep 28, 2021, sent to the company Sep 30, 2021, published by CPSC Oct 15, 2021
The product, in the report: Garmin: Vivoactive HR. Vivoactive 4. Model Vivoactive 4 & Vivoactive HR. Other models too -- The Garmin fitness watches are sold as a number of models. All have heartrate sensors on their backside. The sensors operate by emitting visible light. I have two models, the older model (purch date: 01/06/2018), Vivoactive HR, and the Vivoactive 4 (a newer model). After a year, both caused burning on that part of my wrist that is in toucch with the sensor. This appears to occur with other models. Unless Garmin has deleted the posts in its community page, please see the following for a small sampling: [REDACTED]
I have owned Garmin fitness watches for perhaps as many 4 years (Vivoactive HR since 2018 & Vivoactive 4 since 2020-- the Vivoactive HR was replaced twice for issues unrelated to the medically related one addressed in this complaint). “When did this happen” goes back about 3.5 years, <one year after I purchased my first Garmin, the Vivoactive HR. “Where” this happened was whenever/wherever the watch was on my wrist -- either wrist following the first 4 mos - 1 yr.

Seen by a doctor or nurse Made May 18, 2018, sent to the company Jun 25, 2018, published by CPSC Jul 10, 2018
The product, in the report: Garmin Vivofit 2 - Fitness Band - Black Made in Taiwan
The submitter is reporting the unit for presenting a burn and shock hazard. She sustained burns on the top of her left wrist on different occasions during the past 3-4 months. She also claims the unit has given her a shock sensation several times during the past 3-4 months.
She said she sustained the most severe burn about two weeks ago. She then contacted the retailer and reported the incident. The retailer referred her to the firm for assistance. She contacted the firm and reported the issue. She was advised to discard the unit and she was mailed a replacement. She said the replacement was the firm’s newer version (Vivofit 3).
The submitter said she used to wear the unit at all times and only took it off when she showered.
The submitter has seen her physician for her burns and swelling to her legs, which she believes may be an adverse health effect from the unit.
She claims she feels much better not wearing the unit.
