The product, in the report: Sensory Scout Hammock Chair Stand Model ML-A15OTM-HS-002 The Hammock Chair Stand by Zupapa, distributed by Sensory Scout, is for use with children who suffer with sensory disorders. The product promotes relaxing calm for children as a therapeutic measure. The stand weighs 42.57 pounds, adjustable height from 6-9 feet, base is 48” at widest point, and is made of black metal 11cm diameter. Product sells for $197.00 USD.
I purchased the Hammock Chair Stand by Zupapa, distributed by Sensory Scout, for use with my young grandson who suffers with sensory disorder. The product promotes relaxing calm for agitated children with sensory disorder. I assembled as per instructional manual and placed on flat living room floor surface. The mesh swing, sold separately, but also distributed by Sensory Scout, was attached according to manual instructions. The hammock chair stand and mesh swing are adjustable for height and weight of the individual child. Product advertises will hold up 330 pounds. Upon the first gentle stride at the lowest settings on both the swing and hammock chair stand with my 6-year-old grandson who weighs 52 pounds, the hammock chair stand faulted. It lifted off the ground on the framed base and was in motion to completely fall over on the unframed base, but I intervened and caught the frame avoiding it landing on my grandson. My grandson fell out of the mesh swing and landed on his left shoulder and left side of his head. He fell a few inches off the floor. Both products were at their lowest settings. He received a hard fall, was hurt but no serious injury. However, we were both incredibly frightened by the incident. The hammock chair stand is of a triangular-shaped design and lends itself to be a portable independent hammock swing chair stand. No where in the advertisement or instructions does it inform or require that the frame should be mounted or secured for safety.
