The reports, as CPSC published them

Reports people made to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission. CPSC publishes each one after sending it to the company named, and doesn’t guarantee they’re accurate. A report isn’t a recall.

Each report is the words of the person who made it, as CPSC published them. The company’s comments, where CPSC published any, are set apart as the company’s own.

The product, in the report: Driftwood Shorea Wood Arc Hammock Stand from Hayneedle.com Item # HN-VFA287

We purchased a Shorea Wood Arc Hammock Stand, in a driftwood color, that was shipped to us on August 8, 2013 from Hayneedle.com It split apart while my husband was laying on it on June 10, 2014. My husband fell onto his back and narrowly missed landing directly on the wood frame. He injured his wrist and side during the fall but he did not seek medical attention. My husband weighs less than 200 pounds which is significantly under the hammock weight limit. Upon further research, I found that this same version of hammock stand in the natural color was recalled by the CPSC in Sept. 2012 (alert #12-749). Although our hammock color was not the same as the recalled one, it looked identical and had the same name as the recalled one. It also has the same manufacturing defect as the recalled version. I do not feel this hammock should have continued to be marketed in light of the 2012 recall. I have contacted Hayneedle and they eventually agreed to provide a refund on my purchase but I’d like to make sure this situation does not happen to anyone else.
